it was constructed in the early 1900's to serve as a light house for Opon. this is where Oponganons going to Cebu port and Mandaue wharf rode in bancas, motorboats and lantsas.

opon PLAZA

this is the place everybody grew up in. it has a playground and picnic areas for the family. nowadays it's a famous lover's lane. the city library used to be situated in that area.
it has been around since the church and the old city hall was constructed there. it was acquired in 1908 from the Catholic Church. Beautified in 1928 by Town President Rito dela Serna.

VETERANS MONUMENT

Aside from warrior chieftain Lapulapu, the island of Mactan raised other children who later became heroes. These are the World War II veterans, Filipino soldiers who fought side by side with American forces against the Japanese occupation forces.

The city government honors the Veterans Federation of the Philippines, Lapulapu and Cordova Post, through this monument erected at the Lapulapu City plaza.

the old church was demolished in 1960. it was built in 1736 by Fr. Francisco Aballe, Opon's first parish priest.



Lapu-lapu City Central School






it was constructed in 1917. it has been around for a long time, many generations have gone to school there. it's located by the public market, near the water pump too.. ~~

old Water Reservoir (Bomba sa tubig)

it is located just in Poblacion, Lapu-lapu City. It is where our Lapu-lapu Fire Station is. It was constructed in 1922 by Town President Agustin Tumulak. it's just a few steps from the public market.
